Production Team Leader


To coach associates to meet Quality, Safety, Cost, Delivery, Labor Efficiency, Scrap Reduction, and Line Defect Reduction Goals in compliance with the Quality Management System.  Primary focus is toward development of associates’ abilities to satisfy customer expectations.  Compiles data pertaining to production measurables and reports findings and identifies necessary corrective actions.



  • Coordinate production in the specific area to meet required schedules and schedule over time as needed.
  • Responsible for training new associates on work procedures and other job related duties.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily and monthly charts, graphs and reports.
  • Responsible for labor management and daily productivity.
  • Establish and maintain operator instructions.  Revise and improve as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of associates.  Information provided on departmental measurables and schedule requirements.
  • Know and understand policies and procedures and be able to administer them fairly and consistently. Work with Human Resources on interpretation and application.
  • Investigate problems/processes; Notify affected departments and implement appropriate action as needed.  Follow Abnormality Reporting procedure as identified in the Quality Management System.
  • Maintain subordinates documentation on time sheets, attendance, corrective action, training records, etc.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on machines as needed.  Maintain documentation on maintenance records.
  • Maintain good housekeeping through the use of 5-S.
  • Implement Kaizens when applicable and promote an atmosphere of continuous improvement within the department.
  • Respond to equipment issues and take action accordingly.
  • Participate in internal auditing for Quality, Environmental or Safety Management Systems.




  • Directly supervises departmental associates.
  • Certification and proper use of GNC Lock Out Tag Out Program required.
  • Responsible for investigation of problems/processes in the specific area and implementing recommended countermeasures.
  • Requires teamwork and participation in Employee Involvement and the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
  • May require some travel.
  • Requires shift work and overtime.
  • Other duties as required.




  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED; additional education is preferred.
  • Requires 1-2 years previous manufacturing experience; supervisory experience preferred.  Education may be considered over experience.
  • Must be able to manage and administer company policies and procedures.
  • Maximize the strengths of associates through training, leadership and open communication.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with outside resources and all levels of internal resources in both written and oral formats.
  • Must have proficient investigative, math and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to read and understand operation instructions.
  • Performs other related duties as deemed necessary by company management.

  • Understand your job responsibilities to perform, monitor and control the process.
  • Follow all procedures and work instructions pertaining to your assignment and make recommendations to improve the process.
  • Notify Management immediately when problems or non-conformances are detected.
  • Appropriately record problem or non-conformance to ensure corrective action and preventative measures are taken.
  • Assist in the problem solving process, corrective action and prevention activities.
  • Contain or stop the process as necessary to prevent non-conforming material from contaminating good material.
  • Play an active role in achieving and maintaining the Quality and Environmental Management Systems
  • Learn, understand, communicate and practice the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
